Happy Easter

Easter is a time to Celebrate the Resurrection of Christ Jesus.

I personally think of it as a time of thanksgiving. I’m thankful that we live in a country where we can serve a Risen Savior as we wish without persecution. It’s also a time to spend with Family and Friends. Hopefully this year more families will be able to get together and share this special time with their with loved ones..

I also think of our businesses and economy when I think of the Resurrection. Our local businesses and restaurants are coming alive and resurrecting themselves. They have seen some trying times and they still need our support. Please purchase locally when possible. When you “SHOP LOCAL” you keep your money in your own community and it’s multiplied many times over.

Have a Safe & Happy Easter and we hope to see you soon.

Spring Is In The Air

Springtime is usually a fun time to plan outdoor trips and events. When I think of Spring this year, I thank God that the Chamber has made it this far and almost all of our businesses have made it as well. Things are getting better but we still have a lot to do to get back where we were. I urge you to get offline and to SHOP LOCAL whenever it’s possible to do so.

Our local businesses and restaurants still need our support and every time you purchase locally, you keep your money in your community and it’s multiplied many times over.

Stay Safe and we hope to see you in person real soon.

Masks or No Masks

Well the Governor lifted the ban on masks on Wednesday. I repeat what I said last week. I hope that two things comes from this, Kindness and Respect! People have different opinions about whether we should wear masks or not. Businesses will be implementing their choice of restrictions for their locations. We live in America and these businesses have the right to choose if they want to go by the CDC recommendation to still require masks or not. Each of you have the right to choose where you want to shop and/or eat. So don’t speak ill of their choices, just simply do what’s best for you and the choice is yours to wear a mask or not. But please be Kind to everyone and Respect their decisions.

Please be sure to read each weeks Chamber Updates as we will be introducing more events that we hope to start back up soon. We also will be adding chances to win rewards for reading the updates at times.

Stay Safe and we hope to see you in person soon.

March Winds and Changes

March winds usually blow in some changes in the weather but March is also bringing a few changes to the Chamber. We are starting our “Member of The Month” for 2021 and we are proud to announce that Frost Bank is our 1st recipient of this award. From the day that they came into Duncanville they came to our offices and said that Frost Bank wants to be involved and be a part of the Chamber and the Community. They have been our Presenting Sponsor for all of our Concert/Auction events and are doing so this year. Since we weren’t able to hold the Concert last year, Monica Kenney contacted the Chamber and wanted to make a donation since we didn’t hold the event in 2020. They donated $2,000 to the Chamber and Monica also helped push our PPP Loan through in a very short time. Hats off to Monica Kenney & Frost Bank and Congratulations on being our 1st “Member of The Month” recipient.

Please be sure to read each weeks Chamber Updates as we will be introducing more events that we hope to start back up soon.

With the Governor’s ruling on masks taking place on March 10th, I hope and pray for one thing, Kindness! People have different opinions about whether we should wear masks or not. Businesses will be implementing their choice of restrictions for their locations. We live in America and we have the right to choose where we want to shop and/or eat. Do what’s best for you and the choice is yours to wear a mask or not. But please be Kind to each and every one, no matter what their choice may be.

Conversations
With Your
Chamber
Chairperson

The statement “if you don’t like the weather in Texas, just wait 5 minutes” has never been truer than the record-breaking winter weather of the past couple of weeks. As we are all recovering and still recovering at home, there is an added factor for many Duncanville business owners. I know this from personal experience of witnessing the flooding of my business due to a pipe burst.

We are a strong and resilient city. In addition to continuing to support our local businesses through patronage, I challenge us to also emotionally support our local businesses that have been affected by the recent winter weather. This is a time to lean on, help and encourage each other as we rebuild.

For any businesses that have been affected, please feel free to reach out to the Chamber for guidance. We have a myriad of local businesses that can help in the restoration process. In addition, please reach out if you need a listening ear. We WILL get through this and flourish.

“The heartiest plants survive because they weather the storms and never stop reaching for the light”

Dr. Danielle Franklin
Chairperson 2021

Stay Safe and continue to shop and eat local.
We can all get through this together.
