Supporting Our Restaurants
The Texas Restaurant Association has estimated that 15% of the State’s restaurants have closed for good due to Covid-19. They say that the number could increase by double that before it’s all over and we see a full recovery. A lot of those that have failed have been small independent businesses that are so important to small cities. They play a significant part in sustaining our neighborhoods and communities with sales taxes and support of local and civic organizations as well as our school programs.
Duncanville has been fortunate in that we have only lost Luby’s Cafeteria in 2020. Have we just been lucky or fortunate? I believe that our restaurants have survived because of three major things. Their great food and service, ability to adapt to the changes and the support of our local citizens.
Valentine’s Day is this Sunday and many will celebrate the time with their loved ones this weekend starting on Friday. Please continue to help and support our local restaurants by either dining in and/or takeout. We have helped them this far so let’s support them to make sure they are here to finish the year.
P.S. Tip the staff well as it has been tough times for them also.
Happy Valentine’s Day
